CMP is a 6-8 math program that was adopted by the Forest Hills School District to be used as the primary resource for implementing the math curriculum and state math standards for sixth grade. The "goal of CMP is to have students make sense of mathematical concepts, become proficient with basic skills, and communicate their reasoning and understanding clearly." Activities implemented from CMP focus on inquiry and problem solving. The emphasis is not on how quickly one can come up with the correct answer, but on being able to make sense of the math to allow for application to other situations.
